So when you go swimming in a swimming pool do you think there is chlorine in the water?

The Edwardsville, IL Intelligencer is reporting in Man files suit against health club that a man has filed a lawsuit against a local health club for chlorine he ingested while swimming in the pool.

The plaintiff is claiming an employee improperly added the chlorine to the water. However, the article states the plaintiff ingested the water.

Do not drink the water if you smell chlorine. In fact, and this may come as a shock to many of you, but I would not drink any water from a swimming pool.

  1. LOL the missing “i” is purely…….the inability of either my fingers or my brain to interact correctly. THANKS!!

Wow, $250K that is a lot of money for drinking pool water. Someone owes me millions. He must have had some stomach, skin, eye or other major issues from the chlorine. Do you have a citation for where you found the $250K I would love to read more.

    Thanks again.

Interesting that you use the word “shock,” because that’s exactly what the referenced article said the poorly trained employee was doing to the pool while the guy was swimming.

Every health club in the world (except this one, apparently) knows that shock treatment makes the water temporarily unsafe for any human exposure. It is usually only done in order to deal with contamination, e.g. by feces.

If they were letting people swim, it’s not unreasonable for the guy to assume the water was safe, and that if he happened to swallow a little, which is not unusual when swimming, it wasn’t going to lead to severe health problems.

The guy got a $250K in settlement on Feb. 27, 2013, I found in a search of court records.

By the way, a bunch of your posts have “Recreaton.Law” Gmail addresses at the bottom … is the omission of the letter “i” intentional?
